IMPROVING PATIENT LIFESTYLE CHANGE THROUGH IMPLEMENTING RECOMMENDED UNIVERSAL LIPID SCREENING AMONG 9- TO 12- YEAR-OLD CHILDREN USING A NON-FASTING POINT-OF-CARE LIPID SCREEN: A QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT CONCLUSIONS: This QIP demonstrated the ability to improve ULS among 9- to 12-year-old children through a set of interventions that guided patients to make lifestyle changes. The importance of point-of-care lipid screening and patient education was described.

Biography

I am currently an Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing, director of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialty track, and clinical Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  Courses I have taught include: Pediatric Assessment, Common Pediatric Problems, Complex Pediatric Problems, Scholarly Project, Practicum, and Foundations of Nursing. A little about my education, I graduated from Westminster College in 2009 with my BS-Nursing, graduated from the University of Colorado with my MS-PNP in 2013, and finished my DNP at the University of Colorado May 2019. I also work as a clinician at Primary Children's Hospital in the Vascular Anomalies clinic and in pediatric dermatology though the University of Utah Division of Dermatology. I have been a volunteer as a provider at a free clinic for ten years. I enjoy program development and management and helping children manage their dermatological conditions. In my free time I enjoy skiing, camping, traveling, working on my century old home, and going on adventures with my dogs Lady and Rosco.
