Dr. Hayes has a research background in modalities specific to intramuscular tissue temperature, the neurological system specific to human reflex response to performance and function, as well as, technology development and innovation in the area of wireless health monitoring and tracking.

For the past seven years, Dr. Hayes has served as the Director of Athletic Training Education (ATEP) at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT. During his tenure, the ATEP has become an approved major, financially solvent with full time administrative support staff, enhanced enrollment 300%, improved first time pass rate on the NATA Board of Certification examination to above 90% and 12% national average, and has about 87% placement of graduates. Beginning July 2011, Dr. Hayes dedicates 50% of his time with Sports Medicine for University Health Care. His educational background includes a liberal arts degree from DePauw University, a Master’s of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Indiana State University, and a Doctoral Degree in Human Performance from Oregon State University. In addition to athletic training, Dr. Hayes has worked as a licensed stock broker for Charles Schwab. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, spending time with his daughter, and eating burritos.
