Research Statement

Research activities in the Bartl group combine chemistry, physics and nanoscale materials science and are directed towards Functional Materials by Molecular Design. In particular, we seek to understand and selectively use interactions at the molecular level to create new hierarchically organized materials with optical, electronic and magnetic functionalities. Current research activities include the following areas: bioinspired materials design, surface chemistry of nanomaterials, and thermodynamic and kinetic properties of liquids in extreme nanoconfinement.
