Biography

David E. Leta is a partner in the Salt Lake City law firm of Snell & Wilmer, L.L.P., where his practice concentrates on bankruptcy litigation, business reorganizations and creditor rights. He is a 1973 graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton (fka, Harpur College), where he graduated with High Honors. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1976 from the University of Utah College of Law (nka, S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah) where he was on the Law Review Editorial Board and was a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. Leta is a member of the American Bar Association, a member of the Utah State Bar (organizer and first chairman of the Bankruptcy Section), an Advisory Board member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and a Fellow and 10th Circuit Regent in the American College of Bankruptcy. Mr. Leta is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 9th and 10th Circuits, the U.S. District Court, Utah, the U.S. Tax Court and the Supreme Court of Utah. Since 1995, he has been continuously recognized by his peers in Woodward/White, Inc. as one of the Best Lawyers in America. He has been recognized in Corporate Counsel as one of the leading bankruptcy lawyers in the country, has been recognized multiple years in Utah Business as one of the Utah 100 Legal Elite, is recognized in Who's Who International - Insolvency Practitioners, and has been recognized as a super-lawyer in Super Lawyers, Intermountain Region. From 2004-2008, Mr. Leta served as the co-chair of the ABI Rocky Mountain Bankruptcy Conference, and has been a presenter and lecturer at numerous seminars and continuing legal education programs, and has published various articles on bankruptcy related topics.
