Prof. Pu obtained her Ph.D. in Meteorology in 1997, soon after her Ph.D. research (1993-1996) at National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP)'s Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) in Washington, DC. She then continued her research at NCEP as a UCAR/NCEP postdoctoral fellow in 1997 and 1998. In November 1998, Dr. Pu joined the Universities Space Research Association as a research scientist, and worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA/GSFC). From October of 2000 to June of 2004, Dr. Pu was an associate research scientist of Goddard Earth Sciences & Technology Center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and continued to work at NASA/GSFC as a researcher. She joined the faculty of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences , University of Utah in 2004. She is currently a Professor in department of Atmospheric Sciences. She is also an affiliated faculty in Global Change and Sustainability Center, University of Utah.
