Research Summary
Dr LaStayo is focused on rehabilitation research in the areas of aging, muscle, mobility and human performance; specifically how muscle and mobility changes and how these changes help or hinder physical functioning in daily life, across the lifespan, following injury or disease, and in sport. Dr LaStayo's research also encompasses the specialty areas of upper and lower extremity rehabilitation. Federal funding which supports his work stems from the NIA, NCI, NINDS, NINR.

Biography
Paul LaStayo, PT, PhD, CHT is a physical therapist (MPT-Hahnemann University) trained in biology (PhD- Northern Arizona University) and applied physiology (Postdoc-University of Arizona) in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. His trainees include graduate students in the clinical doctoral program (DPT) while his research trainees stem primarily from his department's Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD) program. Dr LaStayo's adjunct appointments across various departments/operations underlie his collaborative approach in rehabilitation research focused on aging, rehabilitation, skeletal muscle and the upper and lower extremities.
