Biography

 

Nona Brown (MA, English/Cultural Studies, Kansas State University) is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric Studies (formerly the University Writing Program). She has been teaching writing on the college and university level for more than two decades. Her academic and teaching interests include diversity, equity and inclusion, composition theory and pedagogy, gender studies, French feminist theory, mass media/popular culture, visual and multimodal rhetorics, and graphical information design. Nona has taught a variety of courses at the University of Utah, including Introductory Writing, Intermediate Writing, Professional Writing, Visual Rhetoric, and Writing in the Social Sciences.  Nona also developed two courses, Writing in Popular Culture: the Mad World of Mad Men, which debuted fall semester 2013, and Writing in Popular Culture: Black Mirror.
