Biography

Ryan received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the University of Utah under Professor Matthew Sigman, where he studied transition metal-catalyzed reductive cross-coupling reactions.  He then continued his training at Stanford University as an NIH postdoctoral research fellow in the lab of Professor Justin Du Bois and focused on the synthesis and evaluation of modified guanidinium toxins as selective biological probes to investigate voltage-gated sodium ion channels. After his postdoc, Ryan became a research assistant professor at the University of Utah (2016-2021). Ryan has been an assistant professor (lecturer) since 2021.
