Research Summary

Prof. Whitty has over 25 years' experience in high temperature processing of fossil and renewable resources for production of power, heat, chemicals and fuels. His research focuses on technologies that incorporate CO2 capture including gasification, chemical looping combustion and high-pressure oxy-coal combustion. Prof. Whitty's laboratories range from fundamental characterization requiring only a few milligrams of material to pilot-scale systems processing tons of fuel per day.
