Biography
Dr. Sabine C. Klahr is the Associate Chief Global Officer at the University of Utah. Her professional experience in international higher education spans 20 years, including positions in education abroad and as senior international officer. Dr. Klahr earned a doctorate in higher education administration from Montana State University-Bozeman in 1998 with an emphasis on international education leadership. Her dissertation research focused on integrating education abroad into engineering education. Dr. Klahr has served on a wide range of committees and in leadership roles for the Association for International Education Administrators (AIEA), NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the American International Recruitment Council (AIRC), the European Association for International Education (EAIE), and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES). In 2013, she served as President of AIEA. She was awarded a Fulbright International Education Administrator Award to India in 2010 and a Fulbright Specialist Award to Norway in 2017. In February 2016, Dr. Klahr was awarded the Timothy J. Rutenber Award for outstanding and dedicated service over many years to the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA). Dr. Klahr has authored articles in peer reviewed journals, books, and other publications. Her experience with international education began when she arrived in the United States as a high school exchange student from Germany.
