Research Statement

Sundy Watanabe is a PhD Candidate in a program joining the Rhetoric and Composition Department with the Department of Education, Culture, and Society at the University of Utah. Having been a writing instructor for nine years, her scholarly emphasis now centers on intersections of race, rhetoric, and composition within institutions of higher education. She is particularly interested in the ways composition and educational theories, policies, and practices impact Indigenous students as they work to enact self- and community-determination.
