Research Statement

I am in the field of Construction Materials where changes are occurring rapidly and where those changes have a direct effect on the quality of life. More specifically, my research is aimed at extending the life and improving the performance of materials that make up our infrastructure (e.g., highways, bridges, buildings, etc.). This area of research is challenging since it not only requires knowledge of advance technology, but also knowledge of local construction practices. It also requires cooperation between owners -usually a government agency-, builders, and the public
