Creative Research

  • I was invited to perform the role of the Nurse in Ballet West's production of John Cranko's Onegin. Performance, completed 11/2022.
  • I was invited by Ballet West Artistic Director, Adam SKlute, to be the principal coach for the ballet Onegin, specifically the three casts of Tatiana and Onegin. For 6 weeks we collaboratively developed their roles diving in together to bring their character's to life. Other, completed 10/2022.
  • I was invited by Ballet West's Artistic Director, Adam Sklute to be Assistant Rehearsal Director for the Balanchine work, Concerto Barocco. I assisted Michele Gifford, a Balanchine Foundation Repetiteur on the Principal dancers. Performance, completed 10/2022.
  • I choreographed significant portions of Utah Dance Institute's production of Cinderella including all of Act one and three. Choreography, completed 04/2022.
  • Choreographed portions of Utah Dance Institute's Nutcracker. Performance, completed 11/01/2021.

  • I sought and received permission from the Michel Fokine Trust to research, coach and stage Les Syphides on the dancers in the University of Utah Ballet Program. The students performed the fully produced piece in the Utah Ballet in October of 2016. Performance, completed 10/22/2016.
  • Assisted choreographer René Daveluy with choreographing, adapting and staging of his Coppélia for the dancers in our department. Choreography, completed 01/2014.
  • I was invited to create a short new work at the BYU Advanced Summer Intensive. I choreographed on 20+ dancers a three minute work to a Bach Cello Concerto. Choreography, completed 08/2013.
  • I sought and received permission from the Michel Fokine Trust to research, coach and stage Les Syphides on the dancers in the University of Utah Department of Ballet. I designed the 4420 Repertory class around having the students research the history, write a paper and learn the corps de ballet roles from this masterwork. The students performed the fully produced piece in the December Ballet Ensemble performances. Other, completed 08/2012.
  • I am restaging two sections of the ballet Lamberena on the dancers in the Ensemble performance at the University of Utah. This required auditioning, casting and coaching the dancers. I also had to arrange the choreographer's fees and costume fees. I arranged to have the choreographer work with the dancers hands on for 2 hours. Performance, completed 02/2011.
  • I restaged sections of the ballet Lamberena, choreographed by Val Caniporoli during the summer semester intensive 2010 Other, completed 07/30/2010.
  • I staged, rehearsed and coached the dancers from the University of Utah's ballet company, Utah Ballet, in the Pas de deux and Pas de Trois from third The Sleeping Beauty. Performance, completed 04/2010.
  • I coached two University of Utah ballet majors for the Youth American Grand Prix. They competed in Los Angeles in February 2010. Competition, completed 02/2010.

  • I was invited to speak at the Boston Ballet School's Newton Campus in the summer of 2018 and 2019 while on faculty there. Invited Talk/Keynote, Presented, 07/2019.
  • Presented a seminar on the current trend of and the advantages of ballet students choosing to attend college. Invited Talk/Keynote, Presented, 06/2013.

  • I researched, coached and presented 2 dancers from Ballet West at the Beijing International Ballet Invitational for Dance Schools. One dancer won 3rd prize in her age group and the other made the top 12. Other, Presented, 06/2012.

    Having recently traveled to Beijing for the International Ballet Invitational, I would be interested in an exchange with a school over there. Having danced there on 2 separate occasions myself, I know they have great teachers who would benefit our students as I would benefit from theirs.
