Teaching Philosophy

While I strive to provide students with the most current information, my goal is to foster critical thinking and skills for life-long learning.  My teaching strategies are varied and include lecturing, class discussion, and group and individual activities to provide opportunites to apply principles presented in my lectures and course readings to clinical cases. I also try to provide students different ways to show what they are have learned; exams, papers, group assignments, oral presentations, etc.  Finally, I have numerous students working in my lab, providing them with the opportunity to participate in the various aspects of research. My hope is that this experience will help them decide to pursue a research project of their own.
