Teaching Philosophy

As a clinical nurse for over 30 years, my philosophy about patient care is to first and foremost be the patient's advocate. My teaching philosophy is the same. I feel like I am first and foremost the student's advocate.  I believe they are the future of nursing and they should receive an education that supports excellence, professional behavior and critical thinking.  I hope, in turn, my students will give their future patients their best nursing care.  My philosophy of teaching is to mentor students to always be the patient's advocate.
