Research Statement

Within the areas of criminal justice and homelessness, my research primarily focuses on understanding both phenomena through data modeling. This includes developing longitudinal multilevel models for change and structural models that help explain how interventions can reduce recidivism, improve successful re-entry after incarceration, and help the homeless gain housing and general stability. As part of the Utah Criminal Justice Center (UCJC), other research interests include developing and validating assessment tools, assessing the impact of policy changes/reforms, and understanding disproportionate minority contract with the legal system.
