Teaching Philosophy

Today’s world of scholarly communication provides new opportunities for research, interdisciplinary study, and collaboration. Scholars need both social and technical skills to evaluate, manage, and present their research. Preparation is the key to dealing with the changing world of scholarly communication. Librarians teach students to be effective consumers and producers of information; librarians collaborate with faculty in teaching students fluency with technology and information literacy. By proactively updating my own knowledge of teaching tools and techniques in combination with an awareness of interpersonal communication, I try to create an engaging learning environment for the students I teach. My teaching philosophy is prepare, care, and be aware.
