Career Highlights

Susan Kirby DNP APRN FNP-BC, graduated Cum Laude from University of Utah College of Nursing in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She was employed as a staff nurse at the University of Utah Medical Center on the Cardio-Thoracic/ Telemetry Unit and subsequently at FHP Urgent Care . In 1994 she entered the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Utah College of Nursing and graduated in 1996. She has been a staff Nurse Practitioner at the University of Utah Student Health Center from 1996-present. In 2017 she graduated from the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the University of Utah. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor University of Utah College of Nursing. She was appointed to the Utah State Board of Nursing in 2005, and was the APRN representative  to the Board until 2013, serving for 8 years. She was elected Chair of the Utah State Board of Nursing for 2010. Her clinical interests include infectious disease, travel medicine, and global health. She was one of the first APRN's to receive national certification in Travel medicine from the International Society of Travel Medicine in 2006. She has participated as a part of a medical team providing medical and nursing care in rural Sarstun, and San Raymundo Guatemala, as well as being active with Adopt A Native Elder on the Navajo reservation in N. Arizona.
