Teaching Philosophy

To teach photography, digital media, and art by setting a personal example as teacher and an artist. To encourage students to pursue self-expression, and understanding importance of culture in our lives, to reach greater personal, social and intellectual achievements. 

Courses I Teach

  • FA 2000 - Computers and the Arts
    http://www.artnovak.com/FA2000/ The goal of this class is to give students an introduction to a wide range of concepts, techniques, and digital tools used by artists and media creators. This class is the foundation for the Arts Technology program offered by the College of Fine Arts.
  • FA 4100 - Design for Net II
    The course focuses on advanced topics in developing web content, ranging from advanced CSS topics, working with page layouts, creating Flash and ActionScript interactive content, embedding video and audio to create multimedia websites and working with content management systems (CMS) to create client operated web content site. http://www.artnovak.com/teaching/
  • FA 4950 - Interdisciplinary Capstone Project
    http://www.novakmartin.com/FA4950/ This class is about ideas and creativity. It focuses on learning the ideas and thoughts of artists whose practice involves the use of technology - and then putting that knowledge to use in a collaborative project.
