Biography

Dr. Denise Ward is an assistant Professor (Clinical) in the Division of Acute and Chronic Care in the College of Nursing.  She is certified an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner(AGCNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner(FNP). Dr. Ward in currently the Specialty Track Director of the Adult Geron Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Specialty in the Doctor of Nursing Practice(DNP) program. 

Career Highlights

Dr. Ward has 30 + years of clinical experience working in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, Flight Nursing, and Family Practice.  Dr. Ward has been proactive in promoting the role of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner within Salt Lake City since becoming an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.  In 2017, Dr. Ward helped with the role development and incorporation of Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) working in Tele-Critical Care for the Intermountain Healthcare Corporation.   Dr. Ward has been director of the AGACNP Specialty in the DNP program since 2012.  During this time she has updated the program to include simulation and standardized the clinical rotations.
