Biography

Jeremy Biggs MD MSPH is an Occupational and Environmental Medicine physician.  His professional interested include diagnosis, management and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses, return to work programs for ill and injured patients, and workplace health promotion. He specializes in fitness for duty and health promotion for first responders. Dr. Biggs is also the Medical Director of the University Hospital Work Wellness Clinic, Occupational Health Office and the Medical Director of the University of Utah Employee Clinic, RedMed. As part of this work he oversees care of employees, but also helps advise and implement needed regulatory surveillance examinations. His current projects include hazardous chemical examination and developement of ergonomic program for preventing lifting injuries in health care workers at the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics. 

Dr. Biggs is an assistant professor who finished his residency in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Utah Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine.  Dr. Biggs graduated in 2006 from the University of Utah School of Medicine where he graduated as a Junior Member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the recipient of the Deans Award. 

Dr. Biggs contributes to the development of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM)’s evidence-based practice guidelines.  He also is an investigator in a NIH funded study of ergonomic and general medical factors that contribute to the risk of developing upper extremity injuries and illness.

Dr. Biggs participates in teaching graduate level classes for graduate students and residents in advanced topics in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and medical student in Evidence Based Medicine.  He is an active member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the American Medical Association.

Functional Capacity Evaluation

Dr. Biggs has received a grant to help in the research of Functional Capacity Evaluations.  He is also actively involved in teaching resident physicians on how to conduct and interpret these examinations.  Dr. Biggs has a lab in research park in coordination with Physical Therapy and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
