Career Highlights

Alexa Doig graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1992. After obtaining her BSN she worked as a staff nurse in hematology/oncology at University of Utah Healthcare. She then went on to earn her MS and PhD degrees from the University of Utah College of Nursing. She has been teaching courses in physiology and pathophysiology at the Collge of Nursing since 2001, and in 2008 won the University of Utah Early Career Teaching Award. In 2009 Dr. Doig was awarded the National Patient Safety Board Research Board grant to study the patient monitoring practices of acute care oncology nurses. In 2011 she became a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar. In 2013 she was appointed as Chair for the Division of Acute and Chronic Care in the College of Nursing. Dr. Doig is also a Clinical Nurse Researcher at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital.
