  • Curriculum development: Created H EDU 4466 and redesigned KINES 4466 – This project was undertaken to eliminate the redundancy of having two assessment classes (H EDU 2200 and KINES 4466) by removing the existing health assessment course, H EDU 2200, and replacing it with H EDU 4466, which will meet with KINES 4466 for the first session of each semester. The purpose of this course is to give students hands-on laboratory-based learning experiences to enhance health and wellness in future clients. Students will learn health, biometric and fitness assessment skills and construct tailored recommendations for next steps based on results. 08/13/2018 - 12/14/2018. Department service.
  • Taught Instructional Designer certificate course through the Academy of Health Science Educators (March 9-April 6 2018). This course is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and experience in applying instructional design principles in developing education: from a single lecture to an entire course. Topics included mapping to accreditation standards, developing and leveling objectives, selecting assessment and teaching strategies consistent with objectives.   • Working with H EDU faculty to create a corporate wellness emphasis within their CHES track This will give the CHES students an opportunity to get needed experience/certification to sit for the ACSM certification exam and improve employability of their students.   • Worked with COH academic advisors to facilitate Wasatch Front Health Sciences in Education Partnership high school internship program at PEAK. The goals of this program are to increase the diversity in the future healthcare workforce by exposing High School Students in the Salt Lake Valley from diverse backgrounds to observational opportunities in a variety of healthcare fields.   • UBar - Stop by the U-Bar to test drive health apps and wearable devices, ask questions, and get hands-on instruction on how to install and use them. The U-Bar is located in University of Utah Hospital, just off the main lobby in the Hope Fox Eccles Health Library. The U-Bar is staffed from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and no appointment is necessary. The apps below focus on wellness, nutrition, fitness, diabetes, women’s health, and more.
