Research interests include: symptom management in children with cancer, identifying symptoms in young children with cancer, cancer survivorship, and decreasing nursing student anxiety in clinical settings, student success strategies and increasing diversity in nursing (recruitment, retainment, inclusion).

Biography

I have been a pediatric oncology nurse since graduating with my BS in Nursing in 2003. I then completed my MS in Nursing Education and focused my research project on cancer survivorship issues among childhood cancer survivors. After the completion of MS degree, I began teaching at the University of Utah College of Nursing. In 2019, I received my PhD from the University of Utah with my dissertation focused on symptoms in young children with cancer.

I have taught many courses ranging from pre-requisites to the MS program. I currently teach in the series of Clinical Management courses which focus on pathophysiology, med/surg nursing, pharmacology and the human response to illness across the lifespan and across settings. I also have experience teaching in pediatrics, child development, simulation, nursing education and clinical. Currently, I am the Prelicensure Specialty Track Director for the College of Nursing.
