Biography

Born in Los Angeles, raised in Honolulu. Attended Harvard University as an Undergraduate (Class of 1984) and UCLA as a Graduate Student in Mathematics (PhD in 1989). Thesis advisor: Robert Lazarsfeld. Thesis area: Algebraic Geometry. Benjamin Peirce Assistant Professor at Harvard University from 1989-1993. At the University of Utah since 1993. Full Professor in 2000. Chair of the Mathematics Department from 2005-2011.
