    I am a native speaker of Bengali, one of the of constitutionally recognized languages of India and the national language of Bangladesh. My wife, Sanwat Noor Chaudhuri (Ph.D., Chemistry, Brown Univ.) was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and received her undergraduate degree from Dhaka University. I have visited Bangladesh several times with my family. I also have interactions with several alumni of the Bangladesh University of Engg. and Tech (BUET). One of my former Ph.D. students, Professor Humayun R. H. Kabir, a long-time faculty member of Kuwait University, was a native of Bangladesh, and received his BS degree from the BUET.

  • Interfacial Crack Propagation or Turning in Cubic Bi-Crystals. This MATLAB code tests the three-dimensional criteria for propagation or turning of interfacial cracks in cubic bi-crystals.   • Crack Turning and Lattice Crack Deviation (LCD) in BCC Transition Metal Single Crystals. The code tests the three-dimensional criteria for turning of a crack and lattice crack deviation (LCD) in BCC Transition Metal single crystals, such as Tungsten (W), Mo, V and Nb, from one set of crack plane and propagation direction to another.   • Arbitrarily Laminated Cantilever Cylindrical Shells . The code analyzes an arbitrarily laminated, anisotropic cantilever cylindrical shell of finite length, under uniform internal pressure, using Love-Timoshenko's kinematic relations under the framework of classical lamination theory. It was completed in April, 2014, and the numerical results were used in a paper published in ASCE Journal of Engineering Mechanics.   • Crack Turning in Diamond Cubic Single Crystals. The code tests the three-dimensional criteria for turning of a crack in diamond cubic single crystals, such as Si, Ge and C (diamond), from one set of crack plane and propagation direction to another. It was completed in April, 2013, and used in a paper published in International Journal of Fracture. It was not released to public, but is intended for use of my research group.
