Biography

Dr. Teresa Garrett is an Assistant Professor with the University of Utah College of Nursing and the Director of the Utah Nursing Consortium. She currently teaches health policy, leadership and population health in the undergraduate and graduate programs. She is a life-long Salt Lake City resident, public health advocate and community volunteer. Dr. Garrett is passionate about healthy communities, public policy that advances health, and advocating at the state and local level with a 'health in all policies' approach.

Dr. Garrett graduated from the University of Utah College of Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program in 2014. Her volunteer experience includes the YWCA, Utah Organization of Nurse Leaders, Holy Cross Ministries and the Utah and American Public Health Associations.

Over the past 30 years, Dr. Garrett has worked in a variety of settings, including health system leadership, statewide public health, long-term care, and home care. In her spare time, she loves to hike, play in the sun, quilt and spend time with friends and family. Her most recent accomplishment is completing a ‘rim-to-rim’ trek through the Grand Canyon. She and her spouse are the proud parents of two amazing children & their partners, and two fantastic grandsons, who are all making the world a better place.
