Community Partnership

  • Created following exercises for high school students to connect math to engineering topics: 1) sound-filtering circuit-building exercise to teach students about complex numbers. Used the exercise in IB math class in spring at West High School, in Salt Lake City 2) polynomial factoring exercise to teach students about cryptography. Used the exercise in algebra classes in spring at West High School, in Salt Lake City 3) loan exercise to teach students about statistics.   • Created and delivered talk on how ECE alumni and faculty at the University of Utah created modern computing, including windows operating systems, digital signal processing, image processing, information theory, networking, the internet (ARPAnet), and word-processing software.
