Biography

Independent Film & Video Magazine called Trent Harris, “One of America’s premiere cult directors.”  The Los Angeles Critics Association awarded Harris, Best Independent Experimental Film, for his feature, Beaver Trilogy.  This film was also listed by the London Guardian as one of “Fifty Lost Masterpieces” and hit the "Top Ten" list of Art Forum Magazine.  Harris has had three films at Sundance and his work has played at dozens of other festivals worldwide.  He has also recieve major screenings at The Lincoln Center in New York, The British Film Institute, the Museum of Modern Art in Vienna and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Harris has made eight feature films and has produced dozens of shorts and scores of nationally broadcast documentaries for National Geographic, NBC, and WNET-PBS in New York. 

In the last few years Harris has been honored with retrospectives of his work at: Raindance Film Festival, London- 92 Y Tribecca, New York City – Lausanne Underground Film Festival, Switzerland  - Mar del Plata International Film Festival, Argentina -  BUTT Film Festival, The Netherlands - Utah Muesum of Contemporary Art.                               

Harris is the subject of a “This American Life” episode called, “Re-runs”. He holds a Master’s Degree from the American Film Institute.  His films and papers are held at the University of Utah Marriott Library Special Collections.
