- Clinical Nurse Specialist, Hem/Onc BMT Service Line Primary Children's Medical Center (0.2 FTE) A major focus of my role during 2011 was serving as team leader for a quality improvement to reduce CLABSI rates among hospitalized children and adolescents with cancer. This involved overseeing the development of educational materials and implementing best practice "bundles" for managing central line care. Our team met the board goal established by Intermountain Healthcare. Overall, CLABSI rates were 25% less in 2011 than they were in 2010. 01/2011 - present .
Teaching Philosophy
My goal in teaching is to create an environment in which students can achieve the knowledge and skill set necessary for successful nursing practice. Successful learning in the classroom occurs through multiple modes including small and large group discussions, interactive projects, and individual reflection. I believe in setting the bar high and creating a learning environment in which that goal can be attained. I enjoy mentoring learners of all levels and across disciplines through providing supportive opportunities that are mutually beneficial.
