  • The following provides a summary of my responsibilities in my clinical role at PCMC which is a 0.2 FTE. I work as a pediatric oncology clinical nurse specialist for the Hematology/Oncology/BMT service line. My responsibilities center around quality and practice initiatives at the service line, hospital, and corporate levels. During 2010, I was involved in initiatives supporting hazardous drug administration in both oncology and non-oncology settings. This involved rewriting policies and protocols at a corporate level and developing and delivering education materials to non-oncology healthcare workers. Our PCMC team has submitted an abstract of our efforts for consideration for presentation at the 2011 Association of Pediatric Oncology Nurses annual conference. In the fall of 2010, I was asked to serve as team leader for a service line-based project to reduce central line-associated bloodstream infections. This project will be an Intermountain Healthcare board goal for 2011, and will involve participating in the Hem/Onc collaborative within the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions. We will be receiving support from PCMC's Systems Improvement department for this project. I also have served as a faculty member and mentor for PCMC's Changing Outcomes through Research and Evidence (CORE) Scholars program. This program supports PCMC nurses in identifying a relevant clinical question and in gathering, critiquing, and summarizing evidence to guide clinical practice in relation to the question. 01/01/2010 - 12/31/2010
