Being an educator holds the highest responsibility of all professions in making a difference in this world. Education is important because of the intrinsic and extrinsic qualities that it holds. In the most basic sense it is through education that we gain knowledge. Intrinsically, knowledge gained through education can never be taken away. To have a sense of self and understand one’s position in his or her existence is knowledge for a lifetime. Extrinsically, knowledge makes the world go around, for without knowledge we would not enjoy the technological advances of the modern day. It is from the use of our knowledge that we travel great distances with relative ease. It is with knowledge that we consume foods that are nourishing, enjoyable, and healthy. It is through the advancement of knowledge that I can formulate these thoughts and send them around the world in a matter of minutes. The many forms and advantages of knowledge have been advanced
