In the Media

  • 1. Before last night, the Ogden City Administration informed members of our group that they were going to recommend a new survey conducted by Y2K Analytics. In closing their presentation during the work session, it was stated that the administration no longer feels this step is necessary! No more surveys. Action. 2. This same sentiment was expressed by the leadership of the Ogden City Council. As of right now, it appears they are also not wanting to engage in yet another survey. 3. Each and every council member voiced support for retaining the Marshall White Center in its current location under the same name, HOWEVER, a narrative of changing its purpose/use is still prevalent from council members White, Blair, Stephens and Hyres. This same sentiment is present in the administration. If you weren't present and want to watch the meeting: https://fb.watch/9bKFojkKn6/ Because of the outcry of the community, it appears the mayor and City Council have decided that the Marshall White Center will retain its name and location. We look forward to holding them to that. However, the insistence that there be a change in the center's purpose is baffling. The center's services serve the needs of the community. The survey we conducted verifies that. This community needs a rec center, but it needs one that is clean, safe, and up-to-date. It's beyond time that Ogden City invests in this property and its surrounding community. 11/09/2021.
  • Utah Coalition to Abolish Slavery: KUTV — The Utah Coalition to Abolish Slavery formally kicked off an education campaign for an amendment to the Utah Constitution that prohibits slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishments for those convicted of crimes. Public officials, religious leaders, and historians conducted a press conference at the Utah State Capitol on Tuesday about the significance of removing the 144-year-old language with Amendment C, which will be on the November ballot. Dr. Steve Bell, University of Utah professor, said at the education campaign press conference: Three score and one year ago, my parents welcomed into this world and the state of Utah, me, the second son. I appropriated this famous phrase for its unmistakable and historical value for these United States as four score and seven years ago spoken by President Lincoln sparks the memory to recall the battle, and battles, to end slavery. 09/22/2020. https://kutv.com/news/local/utah-coalition-to-abol...
