Research Statement

Methodogically, my research involves qualitative empirical work, specifically case studies of legal disputes. I do an in-depth examination of specific cases to explore systemic weaknesses in our adversarial method of litigation, particularly how issues of racism, sexism, and class bias skew the adjudicative process. Substantively, the cases I study come from different areas of law, such as contracts, remedies, domestic violence and NAGPRA. The commonality in the cases I examine is that they involve members of marginalized groups as one of the parties to the litigation.

A new direction in my research is to focus on the reform of legal education, particularly the pedagogical opportunities for using technology in flipped, hybrid or blended learning.
