Research Summary

Dr. Velayutham's research is focused on two projects: (1) Determining the impact of diabetes on microbial metabolic signatures in adolescents with type 1 diabetes. (2) Identifying novel dietary components and gut-derived microbial metabolites for preventing vascular disease and determining the causal association between dietary berries, gut microbiome, and vascular health.

Biography

Anandh Babu Pon Velayutham, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition & Integrative Physiology. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Madras and subsequently completed postdoctoral training at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Velayutham joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 2012.
