Biography

Dr. Safdar Ansari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah. His primary clinical focus includes staffing the 23-bed state of the art neurocritical care unit (NCCU). In addition to the NCCU, Dr. Ansari is the medical director of the TeleNeurology program, and participates in the Stroke service (Utah stroke network), inpatient and consult Neurology, and outpatient clinic.

He has provided site leadership for the University of Utah in their participation in two large multi-center, Phase III clinical trials, CLEAR-III and MISTIE-III, which evaluated novel treatment for intracerebral hemorrhage. Dr. Ansari is the recipient of the Neurology Faculty Teaching Award in 2015, and is involved with developing curriculum for medical students, residents, and fellows on the management of critically ill patients with neurological concerns. He serves as the course director for the Transition to Internship clerkship, as well as teaching faculty in multiple other medical school courses. He is also fellowship director for Neurocritical care. 

Dr. Ansari attended medical school at the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan; where he was also born and spent most of his early school life. He moved to the United States and completed his Neurology residency and Neurocritical Care fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
