Biography

Dr. Lindsay Gezinski (she/her) is an Associate Professor of Social Work and Director of the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at the University of Utah. Formerly, she served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Amsterdam and Leiden University in the Netherlands. Her research focuses on gender-based violence, human trafficking, and intimate labor domestically and internationally. Overall, this research contributes to understanding the intersections of violence, power dynamics, social systems, and support mechanisms that influence the well-being of vulnerable and marginalized populations. Dr. Gezinski is a mixed methodologist with expertise in qualitative research methodologies, skilled at collaborating with community partners and those with lived experience. Recent scholarly work has appeared in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Child Abuse and Neglect, Journal of Family Violence, Violence Against Women, and the Journal of Human Trafficking. As an award-winning educator, she has taught core curriculum courses across social work degree programs, primarily in the areas of social welfare policy and community organizing. Dr. Gezinski earned her PhD in Social Work and Graduate Minor in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at The Ohio State University (OSU) in 2011. She holds an MSW and MA in Public Policy and Management, also from OSU. Dr. Gezinski is a first-generation university graduate committed to mentoring other first-gen students.
