Biography
When I began the Baccalaureate Nursing Program at the University of Utah, I could not have imagined the amazing opportunities and rich experiences that have been afforded me. I have been fortunate to experience nursing in diverse settings, including: Surgical Intensive Care, Neuro Critical Care, Inpatient Psychiatric, Orthopedic/Neurological, and Post-Surgical Oncology. As a Teaching Nursing Master’s student, I began teaching in the clinical environment as a Clinical Faculty Associate and I found my niche. Teaching as a clinical and didactic instructor gave me the best of many worlds: to be able to guide, teach and support students as they develop their professional nursing practice and values, to continue to deliver patient care, and to build relationships with my nursing colleagues. In the fall of 2009, I entered the PhD Program at the University of Utah, College of Nursing. My goal as an instructor and future researcher is to develop new nursing instruction methodologies to assist students in developing the skills, critical thinking abilities, and professional practice standards and values needed in modern nursing practice.
