Biography

I hold a B.A. in Economics and a PhD in Business with an emphasis in Strategic Management and Corporate Social Responsibility.  Primarily I teach Principles of Management and Strategy classes and topics.  I have assisted with Business & Society classes as well.  Prior to entering the academic domain, I worked for 20 years in banking serving many management roles including Vice President & Portfolio Manager, Assistant Vice President and Product Manager, Network Systems Manager, Telephone Banking Customer Service Manager, and Retail Banking Service Manager.

I was the Associate Director for the Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence from 2006 to 2011.  In addition to my management duties, I conducted the Teaching Workshop Series, a set of workshops focused on pedagogical issues facing instructors at the University of Utah.  I also managed the Higher Education Teaching Specialist program (HETS) that offers special designations to faculty and graduate students that demonstrate proficiency in teaching at the higher education level.  I spent much of my time conducting consultations with faculty throughout the University on topics such as enhancing teaching proficiency, developing effective classroom materials, and resolving individual teaching and learning issues.  In recent years, I have worked extensively on the topic of the Millennial Learner in educational and business settings. Video about Millennial learners: http://news.aarp.org/UM/T.asp?A910.52851.4907.3.1559087.  Sample of the workshop on Millennial Learners: http://www.ctle.utah.edu//?&pageId=3439.

I enjoy traveling extensively with my best friend of 20+ years, MaryBeth,  playing card games (in particular Pinochle and Hearts), and reading (historical fiction and mysteries).  I also take pleasure in being with our three children and four grandchildren.
