Biography
Dr. Andrew Black received his PhD in Education from Capella University in the spring of 2010. Dr. Black also holds an MBA in Technology Management and undergraduate degrees in Electronics Engineering Technology and Business. Dr. Black has more than 21 years’ experience in IT operations management, plus more than 7 years in higher education leadership and teaching roles, including Associate Dean. Dr. Black currently works as an Assistant Professor (Clinicla) and the Director of Information and Technology for the University of Utah College of Nursing. During 2008-2010, Dr. Black was instrumental in designing, building and implementing state-of-the art technologies for the completely remodeled College of Nursing building, including distance education-equipped classrooms and a new simulation learning facility with advanced audio/visual and recording systems and medication dispensation equipment. Dr. Black has managed IT operations for a multi-national Fortune 500 construction company, and was also responsible for managing the IT infrastructure and operations for the 1.5 Billion dollar I-15 reconstruction project in Salt Lake City, prior to the 2002 Winter Olympics. Dr. Black has taught classes for ITT Technical Institute, Salt Lake City School District, Salt Lake Community College, and currently teaches online with Stevens Henager College and the University of Utah College of Nursing.
