Biography

Trials and appeals are the specialty and focus of Erik Olson’s law practice. Erik has tried numerous cases to successful final judgment or verdict, won several appeals resulting in significant decisions in Utah law, prevailed in many dozens of lawsuits in advance of trial, and obtained hundreds of favorable client settlements. Erik has been recognized by his peers as a rising star in the Utah legal community, having been listed in Utah Business’s Legal Elite six years in a row and Mountain States Super Lawyers five years running. Erik is also recognized for commercial litigation by Best Lawyers in America.

Erik handles all varieties of business litigation cases from start to finish, ranging from simple contract disputes to massive, bet-the-company lawsuits.  Erik has significant experience in real estate matters, fights between employers and former employees over noncompetes and other employment covenants (typically in TRO and preliminary injunction proceedings), business breakups, intellectual property disputes, and other contentious and complex matters. Erik is well versed in antitrust law and the application of economic principles to litigation matters. Additionally, he has collected millions of dollars for banks, private lenders, and judgment creditors in complex matters often involving alter ego claims, fraudulent transfers, and successor liability.

After creating a name for himself as head of a team of nearly 40 litigators at one of Utah’s finest law firms, Erik founded Marshall Olson & Hull to provide top-quality litigation work in a lean, nimble setting.
