John K. Morris received a B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles, and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. Before joining the faculty at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1979, Vice President Morris clerked for Chief Judge James R. Browning of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and was a partner with the Los Angeles firm of Morris & Polich. At the College of Law, Vice President Morris published and taught in the areas of civil procedure, interviewing, counseling and negotiation, professional responsibility, trial advocacy, and insurance. In 1985, Vice President Morris received the University of Utah Faculty Fellow Curriculum Development Award, and in 1990 he accepted the position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. In 1991, he became Vice President and General Counsel of the University of Utah.
